BIO

Austin currently resides in Houston, Texas performing, educating, composing, and recording.

He currently holds a position with a weekly schedule of 50 students as an instructor at Music Academy of Texas.

 

​Austin holds a Masters degree in Performance (Jazz Concentration) from Texas State University, where he assistant directed the Jazz Lab Band and Guitar Seminar under Arthur Latin and Carter Arrington. His unique undergraduate background includes a dual degree - B.M Music Performance (Jazz) and a B.S. Geography - Urban and Regional Planning.

 

As an artist, Austin performed and recorded with various artists including Free Radicals, Tauren Wells, and Autumn Walker.

​As part of the Texas State University Jazz Ensemble, he shared the stage with artists like Tito Carrillo, Arthur Latin, Marshall Gilkes, Israe Butler, Gregg Field, Jay Leach, Robert Boone Jr., Aaron Lack, Joel Frahm, Utah Hamrick, Carter Arrington, Terrell Stafford, Texas State Strutters, and opened for the Duke Ellington Orchestra.

 

He appeared in PBS' Wham Re-Bop-Boom-Bam: The Swing Jazz of Eddie Durham and performed yearly in the Eddie Durham Jazz Festival.

He contributed to the Butch Miles Legacy Archive to honor the great Count Basie drummer and former Texas State University instructor. 

Prior to graduation in May of 2025, Austin received the Outstanding Graduate Student in Jazz award, awarded to one student in the jazz program presented by the director of jazz studies. 

 

Austin engages in composition for educational materials, short films, game jams, sync for social media promotion, and original music projects.​​

 

He is a member of the ambitious creative collective Iron Waffle Media where he contributes to short films, music videos, social media content, and on-set assistance.

The music video "I Wanna Buy a Home with You" by Kind Keith was nominated in 2025 for Austin Music Award Best Music Video of the Year.  The 45 minute short "Crabs in a Bucket" Austin scored, included music by John Roseboro. 

 

In the electronic music sphere he has collaborated with artists like Angel Marcloid, AURAGRAPH, Nameless Warning, and Cyber Surfer 3D under his side project Entrana. Austin signed with several net labels including Business Casual 87, Tiger Blood Tapes, and Global Pattern which included physical media cassette runs and over 200k total views through playlist placements.

Austin's early education includes 6-12 concert and marching percussion which included Texas' State Marching Competition, TCGC Indoor Marching Experience, jazz band, and performing in parades including Walt Disney World Parades. Performing in the orchestra pit for high school theatre productions like South Pacific. Performing singer songwriter gigs locally, cover bands with his mentor, and an original metal band. Directly after graduating, he joined the Star of Texas Music Ambassadors summer program which included touring through Europe performing concert percussion at famous landmarks.
